Timaya raised concerns about the promotional costs in an interview on Channels TV, stating that promoting a song now requires as much as 100 million Nigerian naira.
He said, "In the past, the cost of shooting a video was about 1.5 million, but today a song can cost between 50 to 100 million. Even just promoting it can take up to 100 million, meaning the cost exceeds what the song can generate in revenue."
Timaya emphasized that artists are continually forced to invest significant amounts of money into promoting their songs even after they have been produced. His comments come at a time when Nigeria is recognized as a leading country in the entertainment industry, especially in music, yet the cost of promotion remains alarmingly high.
Timaya voiced his concerns about the rising costs in the Nigerian promotional market while working on promoting his upcoming album titled "Gladiator."
