This was in a match played on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 6:00 PM at Stade Amahoro.
There were some changes to the Rwanda National Team compared to the players who played in the first match.
The match started with the Rwanda National Team, Amavubi, passing well and attacking. In the 6th minute, Tuyisenge Arsene snatched the ball from the South Sudanese defenders and released a shot that could only have produced something, but the goalkeeper put it into the corner but it did not produce anything.
Amavubi continued to press hard, with Mugisha Gilbert trying to put the ball in the net but it proved to be a problem. In the 27th minute, South Sudan had their first real chance in front of goal when a corner kick was deflected by Benjamin Laku Lote lek, but the ball went just wide.
In the 34th minute, Amavubi opened the scoring when a powerful shot from Tuyisenge Arsene touched Mugisha Didier, but South Sudan goalkeeper Juma Jenaro Awad Amuk struggled to save it, only for it to go into the net.
After opening the scoring, Rwanda continued to press hard and towards the end of the first half, they were awarded a penalty kick after a pass from Niyomugabo Claude was deflected by South Sudan defender Joseph Malish. The penalty was awarded by captain Muhire Kevin, but the goalkeeper saved it.
The second half began with Amavubi coach Jimmy Mulisa making changes on the field, replacing Mugisha Didier with Mbonymwami Taiba.
The Rwandan national team in the second half seemed to still be hungry for goals, in the 55th minute Muhire Kevin came to correct the mistakes he had made by scoring a penalty kick and scoring the second goal from a ball that was given to him by the South Sudanese defender.
Amavubi continued to attack and could have scored a third goal only in the 81st minute South Sudan came to disrupt them and scored the first goal through David Sebith.
After South Sudan opened the scoring, Amavubi's young players seemed to be out of the game, so they continued to attack in search of a goal to equalize.
The game ended with Amavubi defeating South Sudan 2-1. The Rwanda national team had lost the first match to South Sudan 3-2 and were already eliminated from the CHAN 2024 qualifiers after Sudan won its two matches against Ethiopia, giving it the chance to win the one ticket contested by 5 countries.
