He repeated this in an interview with 'The Breakfast Club', criticizing those who say he wants to compare himself to the biggest artists in Nigerian music such as: Davido, Burna boy and Wizkid.
Rema said that people believe that a person should be honored in music if he has been doing it for more than 10 years, but he insists that everyone has his own chance and that he should not always be proud of the progress he has achieved in a short period of time.
He said, "I know for sure that my progress in music is very fast, that's why some people are not happy about it, people want to give you credit for 10 years in the industry. I don't work according to those rules. I've already broken the 10-year mark and it's only been 3 years."
He also added that he deserves the 4th position in Nigerian music after Davido, Burna boy, and Wizkid. "I am one of the top 4 in Afrobeat here in Nigeria," he said.
The singer Rema became known for the song 'Calm Down' which he collaborated with Serena Gomez of the United States of America.
Rema also recently released her second album 'HEIS' which continues to open doors for her around the world.
