The match, scheduled for March 25, 2025, at the Amahoro Stadium, is a play-off match to secure a place in the 2026 World Cup.
The match also comes after Lesotho were beaten 2-0 by South Africa in the fifth match of the 2026 World Cup qualification campaign, while Rwanda were beaten 2-0 by Nigeria in the same group.
Lesotho national team coach, Leslie Notsi, says that Rwanda is a team they have not played for the first time, so they have already known them well enough to know what to do when they go into the game.
He said: “We have to play for goals because we have faced Rwanda before, now we know what to expect, it is no longer a secret. And as I was asked before, there is a two-point difference between us and Rwanda, we have to do our best to get into the group that is competing for a ticket.”
Despite their defeat to South Africa, Notsi believes his team was strong, and he is confident that they will perform well against the Amavubi. He said: “We have nothing to lose, all we have to do is get in front of the Rwandan goal and put pressure on the hosts. That is how we will go into the game.”
Lesotho is currently in fifth place in Group C with five points, while Rwanda is in third place with seven points.
