On April 18, 2023, Issimbi TV aired an interview in which Dr. Vincent Kanimba, who became known as a midwife, asked for help from charities to get treatment for a three-year illness that caused him to stop working.
Dr Kanimba's disease is known as 'Parkinson', a disease that affects the brain and cuts off the nerves that transmit information to other parts of the body. After the interview with Isimbi TV, different people offered help and Dr. Kanimba went for treatment outside of Rwanda.
After that interview, the reporter Mutesi Scovia made an interview saying that the collection of money to call Dr Kanimba involved a lot of fraud.
After Scovia's words, Murungi Sabin never announced anything about what he said in his interview, but received on Isimbi TV, Dr Kanimba who came from treatment abroad thanked those who helped him and said that he is already relieved and that he has hope of a full recovery.
This has been rebuked after the journalist Mutesi Scovia, came back to this story and said that the call to Dr Kanimba was a fraud because he has not recovered so far because if he had recovered he would have come back and people would see him again.
She said, "If you collect money to call Dr Kanimba, there is no fraud involved, he will be cured and people will see him".
This did not please Murungi Sabin because he then made an interview on the Isimbi TV channel, on December 9, 2024, expressing his dissatisfaction with what Scovia announced, because he helped Dr Kanimba without waiting for him and insisted that all the money given was sent to Dr Kanimba's personal number.
He said, "The money to call Dr Kanimba was not fraudulent because all the money paid by people was sent to his personal number."
Sabin continued to criticize Scovia saying that although he considers him a professional journalist, but he should not have published this story without any evidence, he also said that he should have spoken to him and given full information as a fellow journalist, instead of putting it out there, Sabin concluded by telling him a story he tells Scovia that 'none of them shake the cows'.
Some senior journalists in the profession have continued to declare that this should not be the mark of the great journalists who are asking them to reconcile with the new regime.
