The message was this letter, he said that "As a proud Englishman, it was a joy to play for and coach the National Team. It meant something to me and I showed it,"
"I had the opportunity to coach many players in 102 games, each of them was proud to wear the national team uniform and help the country in any way possible."
At the last Euro Games, many began to doubt his ability and to show that it was time for him to join the British national team, as winning the trophy for him remained a dream.
In 102 games he played, he won 61, lost 17 and drew 24. This made him the first coach to lead the National Team to the finals of a major tournament twice.
This includes reaching the final of Euro 2020 in 2021 and Euro 2024 where they won in the final. But then reached 1/2 of the cup in 2018 and 1/4 in 2022.
