this announcement was made on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, through a message shared on X (formerly known as Twitter). According to the police, Miss Muheto damaged public infrastructure in an accident caused by drunk driving. They added that she did not have a valid driver’s license and attempted to flee from law enforcement.
The statement from the Rwanda National Police reads:"The police confirm that Miss Muheto Divine was arrested for driving under the influence beyond the legal limit, without a valid driver’s license, damaging public infrastructure, and fleeing the scene. This is not the first time she has committed such offenses. Her case has been submitted to the prosecution."
Miss Muheto Divine was crowned Miss Rwanda in 2022, succeeding Miss Ingabire Grace, who held the title in 2021. This is not the first incident involving her and alcohol. In September 2023, she crashed into a house and sustained serious facial injuries.
