The match was played this Sunday, August 18 at the Azam Complex Stadium located in Chamazi.
Azam FC, as the home team, started the match well, only for APR FC's defenders to keep them at bay. APR FC came into the game trying to pass well but passing through the middle of the pitch was a problem, as Azam FC's midfield players were constantly building the ball up.
In the first half, APR FC made a lot of mistakes, but AZAM FC players including Fei Toto and Gibril Sillah were unable to capitalize on the chances they got.
Azam FC continued to pass the ball better than APR FC and created more chances in front of the goal only for the defenders to defend. James Akaminko did Mamadou Sy and ended up getting a yellow card. The first half ended 0-0.
The second half started with Azam FC making a strong run as the players rose to the occasion. In the 55th minute, Fei Toto entered the goal net, causing captain Niyomugabo Claude to put him down and the referee immediately awarded a penalty. It was then thrown by the Colombian, Jhonier Blanco and Azam FC's first goal was scored.
At the 75th minute, APR FC team found a way to score a goal, on a ball that was picked up by Niyomugabo Claude and sent the ball to Victor Mbaoma in front of the goalkeeper, who shot a low shot that the goalkeeper immediately caught without any problem.
The match ended with Azam FC beating APR FC 1-0. The play-offs will be played next week 24 August 2024 ,at Amahoro Stadium.
