She shared her feelings in an emotional interview with ITV journalist Lorraine Kelly on March 5, 2025. During the interview, Cassidy expressed "It’s difficult for me to talk about Payne because of everything that happened, and when I do, it only makes the pain worse."
She went on to explain that while she is trying to come to terms with the fact that Liam Payne is no longer alive, it still feels unreal. She added that she continues to hold on to the beautiful moments they shared as a way of protecting her mental well-being.
Cassidy was with Payne in Buenos Aires but returned to the United States just a few days before he passed away.
The 25-year-old influencer also opened up about her struggles, saying that some days are extremely hard for her, and at times, she lacks the strength to get out of bed in the morning. However, she acknowledged that she is surrounded by supportive people who are helping her navigate this difficult time.
"I am surrounded by people who are really there for me, and honestly, I can't thank them enough," she said.
Cassidy and Payne began dating in 2022. Liam Payne tragically passed away on October 16, 2024, at the age of 31, after falling from a hotel building in Argentina.
Liam Payne was a British singer best known for being a member of the world-famous band called One Direction. The group gained massive popularity with hit songs such as *Steal My Girl*, *You & I*, *Night Changes*, *What Makes You Beautiful*, and *Story of My Life*, among others.
At the end of the interview, Cassidy thanked ITV for launching a mental health initiative and expressed her willingness to contribute to helping those struggling with similar challenges.
