CECAFA Development Manager Baraka Kizuguto said in this ceremony that this tournament will help the teams to prepare well for the African games organized by CAF, namely the Caf Champions League and the Caf Confederation Cup.The tournament will consist of three groups with each group consisting of four teams.
APR FC is in Group 3 which includes SC Villa who won the league title from Uganda, Singida Black Stars FC from Tanzania and El Merriekh Bentiuyo from South Sudan.

The games will start on the 9th and end on the 21st of July 2024 where they will be played at Azam Complex in Chamazi and KMC Stadium in Kinondoni.The last Cecafa Kagame Cup was held in 2021, where the trophy was won by Express FC from Uganda.
