In his speech to open the Amahoro Stadium, President Paul Kagame first thanked Rwandans who participated in the inauguration of the renovated Amahoro Stadium, saying that the President of CAF and FIFA, Gianni Infantino, was the one who made Rwanda rebuild.
He said, “First of all, I would like to thank my brother Patrice Motsepe of CAF and another brother, FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, both of whom made us build such a sports infrastructure. He went on to thank them for their contribution to the development of football in Africa and the world in general".
President Paul Kagame said that this infrastructure will also help in promoting more talents in Rwanda instead of always coming from outside. He said, “Indeed, this will allow us to raise more talents in our country instead of taking them from abroad all the time. People will continue to go where they want to go, but even here we will achieve something because of what we want to do."
The President of Rwanda, Paul KAGAME, ended his speech by thanking everyone who participated in the event. The president of the African Union, Dr Patrice Motsepe, said that Amahoro Stadium is one of the best stadiums in Africa and the world, and thanked President Kagame.
He said: “This is one of the best stadiums in Africa and the world. We as Rwandans, we as Africans should be proud and thank President Kagame for giving us such a stadium. The next time I come here I want to watch the Rwandan team play against the best teams on the African continent."
Renovation of the Peace Stadium began in 2022, where the Stadium was moved from a capacity of 25,000 people to more than 45,000 people, this complete Stadium costs 165 million dollars.
