Azawi was born to two Ugandan parents, Samuel Walusimbi and Mary Nakamatteaza, but he lost his father when he was in his senior four.
His musical journey began when he reached the fifth year of primary school, when he joined the Kika Dance Troupe where he studied, he continued his artistic activities in this group, until he entered the first year of high school.
His talent continued to grow until in 2015, Azawi joined a music production house in Uganda called Big Talent Entertainment, this house was managed by famous Ugandan artist Eddy Kenzo. When Eddy Kenzo brought him together with his music producer (Producer) Kuseim who worked at Big Talent Entertainment, the two began to write a number of popular songs including "Quinamino".
After Kuseim broke up with Big Talent and went to set up his own studio, Azawi's strength decreased because he was the one who helped him write songs and arrange them, so Azawi immediately left Big Talent and went to Swangz Avenue led by Benon Mugumbya and Julius Kyazze where they signed him to a contract. interactions.
Entering in Swangz Avenue was a blessing for him as he performed many popular songs in Uganda and across Africa. Azawi has released two albums including, Africa Music 2021 and Sankofa in 2023, and an EP in 2020. These albums featured hits including Slow Dancing, Party Mood, Repeat it, Bamututte and others.
This singer has worked with some of the biggest artists in Africa including Patoranking, Konshens, Bien, DJ Neptune, Ayo Lizer, and Mike Kayihura from Rwanda.
Many people continue to rank her as the number 1 female artist in Uganda, followed by Cindy Sanyu, Jackie Chandiru and Sheebah Karungi, who were already leaders in Ugandan music but are no longer active.
