When he first appeared before the Kicukiro Primary Court on October 31, 2024, Fatakumavuta stated he was unprepared to proceed with his defense. He reappeared before the prosecution on Tuesday morning at the Kicukiro Primary Court.
While in court, Fatakumavuta informed the prosecutor that he had been tortured during his detention and that he was ordered to attend the hearing in torn clothes, despite Miss Muheto being allowed to delay court proceedings to apply makeup.
Fatakumavuta also raised complaints against several individuals, including artists The Ben, Meddy, Bahati Makaca, artist manager Alex Muyoboke, and journalist David Bayingana.
In his statement, Fatakumavuta claimed: “Bahati Makaca accused me of defamation, yet he’s the one who requested me to write stories about him so he could gain popularity as a commentator.”
About Alex Muyoboke, he said: “This isn’t the first time we’ve had issues. Back in 2017, he attempted to get me fired from Contact FM because I was reporting stories he didn’t like about Charly and Nina, the artists he managed. I was commenting that they were talented but should work on their stage presence and improve their musicality.”
Regarding Meddy, Fatakumavuta stated: “He accused me of defamation for discussing how he spent an entire year with a girl, spending on her excessively; I was simply repeating what he had shared himself in an interview in the USA.”
When discussing The Ben, Fatakumavuta added: “I referred to him as a ‘crybaby’ because he’s known for crying often, which is part of the analysis I was providing. I also commented that The Ben’s wedding would be chaotic due to the large number of fans eager to witness his marriage.”
Fatakumavuta continued, saying he had attempted to reconcile with Alex Muyoboke through the involvement of artist Safi Madiba, but journalist David Bayingana intervened, telling Muyoboke never to reconcile with “a Hutu child.”
Addressing accusations of drug use, Fatakumavuta denied any involvement, claiming he had never signed any drug test documents. He added that during a search of his home, no drugs were found and requested another test in court.
Fatakumavuta was arrested on October 18, 2024, facing charges including drug use, defamation, and cyber harassment.
The prosecution requested that Fatakumavuta remain in provisional detention for another 30 days.
