It is the second day of the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, which took place on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, after the Wubi drew against Libya on the first day, while Nigeria beat Benin 3-0.
The coach of the Amavubi national team, Frank Spittler had decided to make one change from the previous 11 in the last game where Rubangaka Steve replaced Mugisha Bonheur.
The Amavubi were in front of their fans, they started well where in the 1st minute Mugisha Gilbert tried a shot but it went wide of the goal. In the 5th minute Wilfred Ndidi tried a great shot but goalkeeper Ntwari Fiacre saved it.
Tigers seemed to be in the game well, at the 7th minute Jojea Kwizera tried to catch the goalkeeper and the ball went over the goal. In the 15th minute, Lookman took the ball into the Amavubi attack but it was thrown into the goal by goalkeeper Ntwari Fiacre who caught it.
At the 25th minute, due to the mistakes of Mugisha Gilbert who gave the ball wrongly in the net, Bashiru had won for Nigeria but they put it in the corner without giving anything.
In this minute you could see that Nigeria had already entered the game and the Rwandan players started making mistakes where Bizimana Djihad and Niyomugabo Claude were given yellow cards.
In the last 3 minutes of the first half Amavubi had a chance but Nsuti Innocent did not capitalize on it. Both teams went into the break tied at 0-0.
Nigeria started the second half with 2 changes, Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Boniface coming on for Simon Moses and Victor Osimhen. In the first 15 minutes of the second half, you could see that both teams were playing for a goal, but in terms of defense, both teams were in a good position.
Amavubi made their first change in the 60th minute when Samuel Gueulette replaced Mugisha Gilbert. In the 68th minute, Amavubi made a great effort on the ball Muhire Kevin gave to Jojea Kwizera but he shot at the goal through the outside of the goal.
Ntwari Fiacre saved Rwanda again when Aina passed the ball and Lookman shot in the goal, the goalkeeper put it in the corner without giving anything.
Amavubi tried to find a goal including Mugisha Bonheur's shot in the 88th minute which the keeper saved. In the 90th minute, Nsuti Innocent gave Gitego Arthur a chance and Jojea Kwizera gave Rubona Bosco a chance.
The game ended in a scoreless draw and Nigeria continues to lead the group with 4 points, Benin has 3 points, Rwanda has 2 while Libya lost to Benin 2-1 and is in last place.
