The Rayon Sports team announced through its social media that Uwayezu Jean Fideli, who was the President of the team, resigned from those duties, on Friday, September 13, 2024, due to health problems.

He said: "President Jean Fidele Uwayezu has decided to stop the role of managing the Rayon Sports organization due to illness."

Uwayezu Jean Fideli is leaving the chair of the President of Rayon Sports after it was said for some days that he will not run again to lead Rayon Sports in the elections scheduled for next month in October.

Sources say that the man has been sick for a few days and went to France for treatment and that is why he did not appear in Rayon Sports activities in recent days including when he was returning to his hometown in Nyanza region.

Also, the fans and fans of Rayon Sports and those who follow football in Rwanda are saying that his performance in this team would also be the reason for his resignation as President.

President Uwayezu Jean Fideli was elected to lead the Rayon Sports organization in 2020 after the team had management problems between Munyakazi Sadate who was leading it at the time and 'Imena za Rayon Sports' including those who wanted to lead it.

In the 4 years Uwayezu Jean Fideli had been leading Rayon Sports, he helped them win the 2023 Peace Cup by defeating APR FC in the final, and they also won the 'Super Cup'. He also founded the Rayon Sports team for men and women. Uwayezu Jean Fideli has left Rayon Sports in a precarious position in the 2024/25 season, as they have drawn 2 matches in the previous season.
