This development followed a complaint filed by Kwizera Emelyne and Uwase Shakira with the National Investigation Bureau (RIB), accusing Uwineza Nelly Sany, Babingwa Josue, and Ishimwe Patrick of disseminating explicit sexual images of themselves.
Uwineza Nelly Sany was specifically accused of disseminating explicit sexual images. The investigation was based on evidence that images had been taken of him together with his colleagues; however, the versions that were released did not include his colleagues, which led to suspicions that he might have been the one who leaked his colleagues’ images.
Sany, however, denied the allegations. He argued that among the images that were released, he only had some stored on his phone—and that Uwase Shakira also had those images—suggesting that she might have been responsible for leaking them.
Meanwhile, Ishimwe Patrick pleaded guilty, although he claimed that he did not know that disseminating explicit sexual images was a crime. Similarly, Babingwa Josue pleaded guilty but stated that he had spread the images in order to ask the girls if they were indeed the ones in the photos, as they were already his friends.
In this case, the Kicukiro Primary Court ordered that Uwineza Nelly Sany be released on bail on the condition that he appears in court every Monday, while Ishimwe Patrick and Babingwa Josue were detained for 30 days due to serious reasons that prevented them from being released on bail.
